Todos says the order follows successful field test in CCB’s branch-offices in Liaoning, Zhejiang and Ningbo. CCB already uses a smart-card and server-based OTP system from Todos to authenticate internal communications between bank staff.

The new service will be extended to CCB's online customers via printed OTP cards, which will be distributed by the bank. The portable printed OTP is the same size and appearance as a banking card with 45 unique covered codes on each card. No reader software has to be installed at the user end; the customer just has to scrape a new code on the card when logging in.

At the end of May 2005, CCB had 23 millions Internet and telephone banking customers, an increase of 4.9 million on the previous year.
