Jonny joins ClearBank as a finance leader with over 25 years of experience. He brings with him an extensive background in blockchain technology as the CEO of news and advisory service TeamBlockchain which publishes Digital Bytes. Jonny is also Chairman at GemCap Ltd., which is the majority owner of a fund administration company based in Dublin and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. In addition, Jonny is non-executive director of TURN, a blockchain-powered reporting platform for the asset management industry, and was previously CEO of Premier Asset Management Plc which he founded, grew and listed.

Jonny will lead ClearBank Group’s digital asset strategy, working closely with the leadership team. ClearBank currently works with the most regulated, secure and reputable firms in the digital asset sector such as Coinbase. Unlike other banks, ClearBank helps digital asset companies to provide safeguarded accounts and access to payment rails like Faster Payments to improve the quality, functionality and safety of the end customer experience.

"I am delighted to be joining ClearBank and working with the bank to set the strategy and build the digital tools and infrastructure digital asset companies need to grow," said Jonny Fry, Head of Digital Assets Strategy at ClearBank. “The digitisation of loyalty programs, equities, debt instruments, real estate, funds, derivatives, FX and other assets means a growing demand for new digital payment solutions as organisations look to harness new technology to make payments faster and more efficient - while at the same time improving compliance standards and lowering risks. There are huge opportunities for forward-looking banks to provide the infrastructure to enhance fiat offerings and boost digital payment solutions.”

"Jonny brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to ClearBank and will be pivotal in helping the business navigate the shifts we’re seeing in this dynamic and fast-moving area," said Charles McManus, Group CEO at ClearBank. “Over the last year we’ve witnessed a flight to quality in the digital assets space. That is digital asset companies not only want the best technology and the best services, but a banking partner that can ensure they operate at the highest regulatory standards.”
