As the company’s Head of LATAM, Victor Lucena will be based in São Paulo and will oversee all aspects of Thunes’ Latin American operations, leading Thunes’ team and growth strategy in the region.

A fintech native, Victor has gained extensive experience in sales and business development for leading payments platforms and financial services firms, including PayU, Binance, Worldpay, and Rapyd. Having worked in Brazil and many other countries across South America, he brings a deep understanding of regional cultural differences and market dynamics to his new role. He was directly responsible for winning deals with some of the biggest digital brands in the region.

“LATAM and the Caribbean region is home to a plethora of fintech and tech innovators reimagining payments and embedded finance, and setting a high bar for frictionless and smart digital services. Beyond that, the region’s population has tremendous potential as millions of consumers get to use mobile apps and mobile services and leverage technology to work internationally and connect to the global economy. Victor’s deep insights into payments and fintech across Brazil and the broader region, as well as his experience in driving growth for financial services and technology partners, will be an invaluable asset for Thunes as we accelerate growth in the region,” said Jenna Wyer, SVP/GM for the Americas, Thunes.

“I’m thrilled to join Thunes and lead its continued global expansion in the LATAM region, which houses some of the most dynamic emerging economies on the planet. Thunes can help LATAM’s fintechs and businesses unlock massive growth opportunities by supporting their international payments ambitions and connecting them to other continents. I look forward to ramping up our existing partnerships in this exciting market and creating new connections,” said Victor Lucena, Head of LATAM, Thunes.

Thunes has established regional payout partnerships in 17 Latin American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay. In 2022, it launched partnerships with Bexs and Daycoval to enable real-time business and customer inbound payments to Brazil and Banco Santander, Mexico to enable real-time payments. Thunes also offers payment acceptance capabilities in the region, with 50+ alternative payment options available for integration, including PIX, Mercado Pago and PicPay in Brazil, virtual accounts and Oxxo Pay in Mexico, and PSE and Nequi in Colombia.
