Slovenian ACH Bankart has won approval from the country's central bank to switch over to an instant payments platform provided by Nordic processor Nets.

Slated for go live next month, the real-time system will clear transactions between banks in less than a second. Other regular credit transfers, ​such as bill payments, salary pay-outs and pensions will also run over the new platform.

Further down the line, the platform will be extended to cover other innovative services, including P2P mobile funds transfers and requests for payments, says Aleksander Kurtevski, managing director, Bankart.

"We will deliver a future proof solution developed for a whole new eco-system that opens up for innovative services," he says. "This will ensure that the Slovenian community will get access to services with great user experience, and at the same time keep payments cost effective."

Slovenia joins a host of EU countries using Nets' RealTime24/7 system, with Italy and Denmark already live, and Hungary ready for launch later this year
