BBVA unveils match-making platform for fintech startups

The Open Marketplace already has 150 members, which can use a search tool, a directory of profiles and a smart match-making system to connect with BBVA business units. Similar to a dating app, startups and bank units create profiles and then set out what they need and can provide. The system then looks for good matches.

When there is a match, the startup and BBVA unit can use the platform to begin working together, formalising their relationship and tapping virtual co-working spaces to work on proof-of-concepts.

Elena Alfaro, head, data and open innovation, BBVA, says: "The new platform provides companies with the potential to change the future of banking the opportunity to work on real problems that face the sector on a day-to-day basis and to work together with BBVA's experts to find solutions."
