Stripe, which already employs around 100 people in the Irish capital, will add a few dozen to the new engineering centre, its first outside the US.

Explaining the decision to pick Dublin, CEO Patrick Collison tells Reuters that the $9 billion firm was attracted by the city's strong tech talent pool and "globally minded" outlook.

Asked about Europe's fintech leader, the UK, Collinson says: "This decision was certainly not made by Brexit, but certainly when we were evaluating all the different countries across Europe the uncertainty was a factor."
