Under a deal with VeriFone-owned Point, Handelsbanken will offer a branded chip and PIN reader and app combination which will enable small businesses to accept card payments through their smartphones and tablets.

Point is providing its parent company's EMV-compatible PAYware Mobile devices and managed services including software support, deployment and helpdesk.

Bård Ljöstad, MD, Sweden, Point, says: "Leading banks such as Handelsbanken are developing new payment services to serve the needs of new micro merchants and other small businesses that want to utilise smartphones and tablet devices for payment acceptance."
