The bank's app was added to the Android Market in mid-2010 but last year Amazon launched its own store, providing another outlet for developers.

Importantly, the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet, unveiled in September, relies solely on Amazon's store, bypassing the official Android Market.

Wells Fargo has more than seven million active consumer and small business customers using its mobile apps. In addition to the Amazon online store, the bank's apps are also available via the Android Market, Apple App Store, BlackBerry App World and HP App Catalog.
