A former LSE and Harvard Business School alumnus, Hodgkinson is currently CEO of SWX Europe and a member of the management board of SIX Swiss Exchange and SWX Group, a position he has held since December 2006. He was director of market operations in the five years prior to this.

In January, Hodgkinson signalled his intention to quit SIX Group at the end of April to "pursue a new challenge". This was two months after the SIX Group announced plans to close the London operations of SWX Europe with the loss of 40 jobs. Hogkinson has been heading the project to repatriate trading in Swiss blue chips from London to Zurich.

He takes up his new SmartPool post in May.

Says Hogkinson: "I believe SmartPool has a bright and exciting future, offering wholesale customers the opportunity to execute complex transactions efficiently and with minimum market impact."
