Under the deal Ingenico supply around 3000 of its 6400 series chip and PIN terminals to post offices across Norway.

A second agreement will see Ingenico's UK division provide around 750 GPRS mobile payment devices, which will be used by postal staff to take payments for parcels at a customer's front door.

Ingenico says it secured the deal in partnership with BBS the bank-owned Norwegian payments processor that bought its Swedish business earlier this year. The vendor says it has signed a new exclusive distribution agreement with BBS and the two companies will jointly promote and distribute products and services across the Scandinavian region.

Malcolm Bushell, Ingenico VP, global sales and services, says: "We have had an excellent relationship with BBS and the new contract with the Norwegian Post Office underlines our ability to work effectively together."
