Data centre energy efficiency metrics

Data centre energy efficiency metrics

Source: British Computer Society

The British Computer Society presents existing and proposed metrics to provide effective understanding and reporting of data centre energy consumption.

This white paper forms part of the BCS's drive to stimulate discussion about the impact the industry is having on the environment and offer solutions to help reduce the carbon footprint.

The paper was produced thorough consultation with both data centre specialist group members and other external industry experts. It explains data centre metrics and reviews why they are needed, compares current data centre efficiency metrics and proposes a set of analysis methods and metrics for operators to complement the existing industry reporting metrics.
