Improved on Finextra - the search engine

One of my colleagues here pointed out that our search engine on the site wasn't bringing back the right results if you typed in web 2.0. I thought it was just displaying good taste - the phrase web 2.0 still makes me shudder. Anyway - it is fixed and overhauled. Try it out - the search box is on most of our pages on the top right.

Commenting on Finextra now even easier

Yes, even easier than it was last week. In fairness, we have responded to some user feedback and we've made some adjustments to make it a little more straightforward. In case you missed last week's post, a comment is a quick and concise text response to a news or feature item. If you want to go into depth with links and a picture, then post a relat...

Changing your profile picture!

If you want to change or upload a picture for your profile (ie: the one that appears against all your blog posts) then you do that from the right hand panel options on your home page when you log in. This is different from the MY PICTURES page - which is more a sort of gallery of images for your blog posts or for the site's picture albums. I'll add...

Finextra market data feed - now in living colour

Another small change for the better - our market data pages are colour coded green and red where appropriate to indicate positive or negative values. Seems to be a lot of red at the moment.... Also I've fixed a reported issue with the member messaging whereby some messages were arriving as blank - which let's face it is less than helpful.

Using Word to compose your blog post? Take care!

If you're using Microsoft Word to compose your blog post - I recommend you just use it to write the text - don't bother with any formatting. Paste it into our system using the paste from Word or paste as plain text buttons - these are the little clipboard icons with a small W or T on them in our blog editor pane - (see below). Click them and a new ...

New on Finextra - get snap happy!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words - personally I think it depends on the photographer and the writer - but that's just me. If you're a full community member you can now upload a photo to appear on your blog posts, should you wish. Alternatively you can submit your photo to one of our online albums instead - at the moment we have a couple...
